Romanzia uses a customer's own decorative fabric to make Romanzia Roman
Shades. First, we custom fuse the decorative fabric to one of our own special linings. Then we cut it,
fold it, and sew it to the customer's exact specifications. Finally, we fit it to the customer's choice
of headrail/lift system.
Romanzia Roman Shades are
Available in 4 Pleat Styles:
|
Pleats sewn on front and back with
2 1/2, 4, or 6 inches between pleats. |
 |
Pleats sewn on back only with 8 inches between pleats. |
|
|
PLEASE NOTE: On shades with back pleats only - creases will form at the fold lines when
shades are drawn. These creases usually remain visible after the shades are let down
again.
Standard Features:
- Fused Black-Out Lining or Fused Translucent Lining.
- Deluxe Front Mounted Headrail System with Top Flap, Cord Guide Pulleys, and Cord Lock.
- Color Coordinated Draw Cords with Wood Cord Pull - accessible from the front of the
shade.
- Fabric Wrapped End Cap Returns.
- Wing Nut Style Brackets for Easy Installation.
Available Options:
- Traditional Headrail - Shade is mounted off the front of a 1-1/2 inch deep headrail with cord lock,
pulleys, and tassel pull behind. No top flap. Angle iron mounting brackets.
- Bottom Up Shades.
- Motorization.
- End Flaps.
- Complete Valances with Returns (see Shade Toppers).
- Continuous Loop Bead Chain Lift System
Stacking
When drawn, the stack of a Roman shade with either pleat configuration is
between 9 inches and 12 inches - depending on the length of the shade and thickness of the
fabric.
Headrails and Top Flaps
Romanzia Roman Shades are made with a standard, deluxe front mounted draw
system which consists of a 2 inch deep headrail, cord guide pulleys, and cord lock - all
hidden by a top flap of matching fabric. Headrail ends are covered with matching fabric
caps. Draw cord is color coordinated with the face fabric.
Shades with pleats sewn on front and back with 2 1/2 inch pleat spacing have a 5 inch top flap with a sewn bottom hem.
Shades with pleats sewn on front and back with 4 inch pleat spacing have a 6 inch top flap with a sewn bottom hem.
Shades with pleats sewn on front and back with 6 inch pleat spacing have a 7 inch top flap with a sewn bottom hem.
Shades with pleats sewn on back only with 8 inch pleat spacing have a
7 inch full loop top flap.
Please note that top flaps are essentially a functional element - they are designed to
cover the shades hardware system. A top flap can be expected to "flap out" when
the shade is drawn up tightly underneath. If the customer desires a drawn shade to be more
completely hidden, a separate toptreatment should be planned.
Mounting Brackets
Romanzia Roman Shades with the standard deluxe front mounted hardware
system are mounted using "New York" brackets. These brackets mount to the wall
or window casing, inside or outside mount. Shades are secured to the brackets with wing
nuts.

Railroading Fabric
In many cases, it may be advantageous to "railroad" a customer's
fabric, that is, to run the fabric horizontally across the face of the shade - hiding
seams in the horizontal back pleats. This procedure may be used by our workroom if the
shade is wider than the decorative fabric and if the fabric is not directional.
"Railroading" a directional fabric may also be desired by the customer to create
a special effect.
Cleaning
When needed, Romanzia shades may be cleaned as they hang in place. Use a
brush, vacuum cleaner, or dry cleaning process (if recommended by the face fabric
manufacturer).
Measuring Notes
When measuring and ordering, please specify the shade width and length to the nearest 1/8 inch. Also note
whether the shade is to be mounted inside the window casing or outside the window casing.
When an inside mount is specified, our workroom will make the proper clearance deductions.
When an outside mount is specified, the shade will be made the exact width and length
ordered.
Bead-Chain Lift System
for all Romanzia Roman Shades
Bottom-Up/Top-Down Shades
A special top hem may be lowered from under the
stationary top flap - or the shade may be drawn up from the bottom like
a standard shade.
