Measuring for Roller Shades
When measuring and ordering, please specify the window width and height to the nearest 1/16”. Also specify whether the width measurement is Jamb-to-Jamb or Bracket-to-Bracket:
Inside - Jamb-to-Jamb Measurement indicates the exact inside dimensions of the window casing that a shade must fit into.
The shade cloth is narrower than the jamb to jamb width. See the shade dimension drawing for your particular type of roller shade.
Outside - Bracket to Bracket Measurement indicates the distance between the outside edge of the left bracket and the outside edge of the right bracket. It is used when the shade is to be mounted on or outside the window casing. The bracket to bracket width is greater than the shade cloth width. See the shade dimension drawing for your particular type of roller shade.
Outside - Cloth Measurement indicates the exact finished cloth width. The cloth width is less than the bracket to bracket width. See the shade dimension drawing for your particular type of roller shade.
On shades mounted outside the window casing, the cloth width should extend 1/2" beyond the window casing on each side if possible. The more overlap, the better the coverage.
The Window Height Measurement indicates the height of the area that the shade must cover. Romanzia will add the necessary extra length for roll-up.
Installing Romanzia Traditional Spring Roller Shades
Mount the Universal Brackets
You may attach the brackets to the window frame, window molding, wall or ceiling.
Regular roll shades the locking bracket (spring end) is on the left.
Reverse roll shades the locking bracket is on the right.
It is essential that both brackets are level, otherwise the rolling of the shade will be affected.
Regular Roll vs Reverse Roll Shades
These terms describe how a shade's cloth rolls off the top of the roller. The cloth rolls off the back of a regular roll shade. The cloth rolls off the front of a reverse roll shade. Regular roll was furnished unless reverse roll was specified.
Inside Mount Note:
Allow 1/4" inch clearance between top of frame and fully rolled-up shade.
This will allow shade to be lifted and inserted into brackets.
Installing Romanzia Clutch Roller Shade
Mount the Brackets
If the clutch is on the right end of the shade, attach the brackets to the window frame, window molding, wall, or ceiling as shown below. If the clutch is on the left end of the shade, reverse the bracket positions.
Install the Shade
a. Push the clutch straight onto the blade of its bracket. The bottom of the clutch should always point straight down.
b. Lower the lug of the end plug onto the "V" of its bracket. The roller should fit in the brackets securely, with just a little play. Rotate the riveted retainer to lock the lug in position.
Install the Tension Device
The Tension Device reduces the hazards of strangulation and entanglement of young children by limiting access to the bead-chain control. A Tension Device is already attached to the shade’s bead-chain. Anchor the Tension Devise to the window frame or wall so that young children cannot pull the bead-chain around their necks. See attached sheet for specific Tension Device instructions.
Using the Bead-Chain Control to Operate the Shade
Pulling gently on the bead-chain in one direction raises the shade; pulling it in the other direction lowers it. On shades where the fabric rolls against the window, the front chain does the raising. On shades where the fabric rolls toward the room, the rear chain does the raising.
Attaching Stops to a Bead-Chain Control
Using the bead-chain control, lower the shade to the sill or floor height and attach a clear plastic ball stop to the chain next to the clutch. This prevents the shade from being lowered beyond that point. Next, raise the shade to its upper limit and attach a clear plastic ball stop to the chain next to the clutch. This prevents the shade from being raised beyond that point.
Adjusting Traditional Spring Roller Tension
Note:
If the shade refuses to roll up, the spring is too loose.
When the shade will not stay down, the spring is too tight.
Caution:
Over-tightening the spring may result in permanent damage.
Do not use pliers to adjust the spring.
To Tighten:
Lower the shade about 12" from the top.
Allow the spring to lock.
Remove from brackets.
Roll up shade all the way up by hand then replace in brackets.
Pull shade down to test if you have reached the desired tension.
If shade is still to loose, repeat this instruction.
To Loosen:
Raise the shade to the top.
Allow the spring to lock and remove from brackets.
Unroll the shade about 12" and replace in brackets.
Pull shade down to test if you have reached the desired tension.
If shade is still to tight, repeat this instruction.
